When do we celebrate Grandma’s Day?

What is the origin of Grandmothers’ Day? The idea for the holiday was born in the weekly “Kobieta i Życie” in 1964. Just a year later, this idea began to be popularized by “Express Poznański”, which announced that January 21 would be Grandma’s Day. Well, on January 21, 1965, the famous actress Mieczysława Ćwiklińska was to perform in the capital of Greater Poland. It was her 85th birthday on that day, and in the play entitled “Trees Die Standing” by Alejandro Casona, the actress played the role of Grandma. Ryszard Danecki from “Express Poznański”, by giving the cake and flowers, wanted to convince the actress that he was giving her the holiday, which is celebrated in Poznań. Later, the idea was picked up by “Express Wieczorny” and since then, Grandma’s Day has become a nationwide holiday. Later, the tradition of Grandfather’s Day was created in a similar way.
