The fact that such reports can have concrete political consequences has already been shown in the US asylum program for white people from South Africa who are allegedly at risk of genocide – an accusation that has been clearly refuted. A similar pattern was recently observed in Nigeria: There, US forces carried out air strikes against militias in the northwest of the country at Christmas. Trump spoke of a strike against terrorists who had specifically attacked Christians.
