PF carries out operation to combat PCC cocaine trafficking

Actions take place in São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul

The Federal Police (PF) launched Operation Purge this Tuesday morning (20) to combat transnational drug trafficking carried out by the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) faction.

The PF action takes place in the cities of Piracicaba, Limeira, Americana, Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo. Federal police officers also comply with court orders in the capital of São Paulo and in Corumbá (MS), a state that borders Bolivia.

In total, there are 12 arrest warrants and 24 search and seizure warrants issued by the Federal Court. According to the PF, some PCC drug traffickers have already been arrested.

Investigation

The PF’s investigative work began with a flagrant arrest, in January this year, in Limeira, in the interior of São Paulo, which resulted in 13 suspects being arrested, including a pregnant woman. The police also arrested two teenagers.

In the same operation, agents found 17 kilos of cocaine from the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz de La Sierra. The drug was packed in capsules ingested by the arrested people. The cocaine was destined for the city of São Paulo.
