The Judiciary Police (PJ) is carrying out a mega-operation against the far-right group 1143, led by neo-Nazi Mário Machado. More than 30 arrest warrants were issued.
It is recalled that group 1143 attacked and robbed an Indian immigrant at the Aveiras service station, in October, and clashed with protesters at the 25 de Abril parade.
Leader Mário Machado is already detained for crimes of the same nature, but the PJ suspects that he continues to issue instructions to the remaining members from prison.
Xenophobic and racist messages and other content on social media are being investigated. The detainees will appear in court in the coming days.
