Sara Avelar bursts into tears when talking about her mother: “She doesn’t talk, she doesn’t walk…”

Sara Avelar was on the program ‘Passadeira Vermelha’ this Monday, January 19th, together with Catarina Miranda and Heitor Lourenço, commenting on the celebrity news.

At one point, after hearing Sandra Silva’s testimony, who revealed that her mother suffers from Alzheimer’s, the commentator could not contain her emotion and burst into tears.

Unable to speak, Sara Avelar then listened to the words of her fellow panelists and only later gave her testimony, as her mother was also diagnosed with a mental illness.

“That’s it, the roles are reversed and Sandra is new… What happened to me was also like that, I was 37 years old, but in my case, it’s an even rarer disease, it’s Frototemporal Dementia. So, year by year, we realize that she’s losing faculties, a super active mother, businesswoman, extroverted and super sociable and we start to see her losing, every year, these abilities until she’s in bed… she can’t talk, she can’t walk, she’s stuck in a body”he began by saying.

The commentator explained that, at a certain point, it was no longer sustainable for her to have her mother at home: “It gets to the point where it’s not even possible to feed orally”realized.

Sara Avelar highlighted that “a house is destroyed”, regretting that there is no “solution” for this type of disease: “It’s slow mourning (…). I understand it perfectly and I know the pain and the logistics that it takes and I know that my going to where she is, I know that she is being treated very well but I have to go there every day, I have to see, I have to understand, because no matter how much she doesn’t react, I can understand everything, through a look, a sound. I think it’s very sad for someone to go through a process like this, I don’t think anyone deserves it (…)”.
