Significantly more cars were sold in Austria last year. Only in Spain was the increase in new registrations even higher. Across Europe, the recovery is progressing at a snail’s pace and is not equally satisfactory for all manufacturers. While the VW Group has expanded its position on the continent and Renault and BMW have sold more, the Italian-French group Stellantis with brands such as Opel, Peugeot, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Citroen and Jeep continued to lose ground last year. Hyundai, Toyota, Ford and Tesla were also among the losers.
