Jacques Moretti and his wife are being investigated for several crimes, including murder, related to the tragedy that also caused more than 100 injuries, most of them teenagers.
The owner of the bar in Switzerland where more than 40 people died was released after paying a million-dollar bond.
The defense lawyer has already presented the request for the release of Jacques Moretti, owner of the establishment, and, without revealing who made the payment, assured a Swiss television channel that the deposit, in excess of 215 thousand euros, had been paid.
Moretti and his wife, who was also released, are being investigated for several crimes, including murder, following the fire that killed 40 people in the early hours of the first day of the year. Most of the victims were teenagers. The fire also caused more than 100 injuries.
In Switzerland, calls have intensified for those responsible to be brought to justice. There are also those who argue that criminal investigation should be extended to local authorities.
According to the mayor, the bar had not been subject to inspections since 2019.
