A burger is most often associated with beef, cheese and classic additions such as lettuce or pickled cucumber. Mushrooms rarely appear in traditional versions, which is a pity. In Polish cuisine, the combination of meat with fried mushrooms or mushroom sauce is well known and liked. Just think about cutlets, cutlets or casseroles. This duo works equally well in a burger. Fried mushrooms add depth of flavor, and in the version with cream, they create a thick addition that perfectly combines all the ingredients. Thanks to them the burger becomes juicier, fuller and simply more interesting in taste. It’s a small change that can completely change a well-known dish and give it a different character.
Ingredients:
- 2 hamburger buns,
- 300 g of minced beef,
- 2 slices of cheddar or Emmental cheese,
- 300 g mushrooms,
- small onion,
- shallot,
- 3 tablespoons of cream 30%,
- 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce,
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt,
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
Additionally:
How to do it:
1. Finely chop some of the mushrooms and cut some into slices. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion until slightly translucent. Add the mushrooms and fry them over medium heat until all the water evaporates and the mushrooms are lightly browned. Season everything with salt and pepper. At the end, add the cream and mix everything.
3. Finely chop the shallot.
4. Rub the minced meat with your hands along with the shallot and Worcestershire sauce, adding salt and pepper. Form two flat cutlets.
5. Fry the cutlets in a very hot pan with a small amount of oil for 3-4 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred degree of doneness. One minute before the end of frying, place a slice of cheese on top of each cutlet. Remove and set aside.
6. Lightly toast the hamburger bun in a pan or in a toaster. Place the cutlet with cheese on the lower part, followed by a layer of mushrooms. Cover with the top of the bun.
7. Serve the burger with mushrooms warm, immediately after preparation. Don’t save leftovers for later.
