Coach Rogério Ceni did not hide his dissatisfaction with the change promoted by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in Bahia’s debut in the Brazilian Championship, against Corinthians.
Initially scheduled for January 29, Thursday, at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, the match was brought forward to the day before, Wednesday (28), .
In an interview afterwards, the coach pointed out a “conflict of interest” and stated that the change directly impacted the club’s logistics.
According to Ceni, all planning had been done based on the original table published by the entity.
We had a table when it came out. It was the 29th, then they scheduled it for the 28th, we did all the logistics to play in São Paulo on the 28th, hotel booked and everything ready. But suddenly, when it suits some teams, interest changes and we have to reserve everything again for another city
Bahia will have a classic against Vitória before the debut
The tricolor commander also highlighted that changing cities and dates interferes with preparation, especially as it is the beginning of the season. It is worth mentioning that before facing, Bahia faces Vitória in the Campeonato Baiano.
“It shows that everything remains the same in terms of football. Send whoever can do the most, there is a benefit from exchanges. Changing a city game is a little costly, it decreased by one day, of course it changes thinking a little, mainly because it’s the beginning of the season”, he added.
The first Ba-Vi classic of 2026 is scheduled for this Sunday (25), at 4pm (Brasília time). The duel is valid for the 5th round of Baianão and will be held at Barradão, in Salvador.
