The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, stated this Wednesday, 21, that it is “positive” that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has declared that he wants to avoid the use of military force in Greenland.
In statements to the press, in turn, that the North American ambitions regarding territory in the Arctic remain intact and that the statements about the absence of an armed incursion do not resolve the situation. According to him, the stance demonstrates a view that Denmark cannot take care of the island.
The minister also stated that Copenhagen is not willing to start negotiations for the territory, giving up “basic principles”.
