The sentence is much higher than the 15 years requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office

A Seoul court sentenced former South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to 23 years in prison for his role in the brief declaration of martial law in December 2024.

Han “failed in his duty and responsibility as prime minister to the end,” judge Lee Jin-gwan said in his ruling.

The sentence is much higher than the 15 years requested by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
