Founder of Polishop has properties seized amid million-dollar disputes in court

Recent order reaches two apartments in Jardim Paulista due to debt of R$24.9 million with Versuni; In 2024, three João Appolinário properties had already been subject to seizure linked to Shopping Mooca

The São Paulo Court ordered the seizure of the personal assets of businessman João Appolinário, founder and president of Polishop. The decision seeks to eliminate a debt owed to the company Versuni Brasil Ltda., estimated at R$24.9 million.

Judge Renan Jacó Mota’s decision was handed down following a request from Versuni, who argued that, “given the luxury of the properties, financially relevant artifacts will certainly be located that will help in the settlement, even if partial, of the debt”.

The attachment order affects two residential properties in Appolinário, located in Jardim Paulista, in São Paulo. The businessman can still appeal the decision.

Founder of Polishop has properties seized amid million-dollar disputes in court

In August 2024, three properties belonging to Appolinário had already been seized by the courts due to a debt owed by Polishop to Shopping Mooca, in the east zone of the capital of São Paulo. The debt would be related to the rent of a company store that operated at the location.

At the time, the company was already in judicial recovery, a fact raised by the defense in an attempt to stop the seizure. Judge Anderson Antonucci, however, understood that the recovery did not prevent collections against “solidarity debtors”.

Fractions that the businessman owned were seized from a duplex in the Butantã neighborhood and two commercial rooms in Jardim Paulista.

The company has been in judicial recovery since 2024.
