O Novorizontinoa team from Série B of the Brasileirão, beat Palmeiras 4-0 this Tuesday (20/01), in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista 2026. The duel took place at Novorizontino’s home, Estádio Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi, in Novo Horizonte (SP).
In December 2023, the club officially became a SAF. However, it always had the same controllers. Novorizontino has 100% national control, in the hands of the Biasi family.
The team’s history is completely confused with the Biasi’s trajectory. The club’s owners are the same owners of a vast business empire in the interior of São Paulo, with businesses that include:
- Usina Estiva: Sugarcane factory with more than 200 employees
- Agriculture: Cattle confinement and beef cattle farming
- Stud farms: Breeding race horses and selling equine semen for breeding
- Thermoelectric energy: Clean energy generation

Jorge Ismael de Biasi, patriarch of the family and president of the former Grêmio Esportivo Novorizontino (1973-1999), was the one who built the stadium with his own resources in the 1980s. Jorge led the club at its peak, when the team reached the final of the 1990 Campeonato Paulista (the famous “redneck final” against Bragantino).
Today, the heirs – Jorge Ismael de Biasi Filho, Roberto de Biasi and Sandro Cabrera – form the SAF Board of Directors and invest heavily in the club. The entire financial deficit is covered by profits from their private businesses.
The city of Novo Horizonte spent 11 years without football (1999-2010) after the closure of the former Grêmio Esportivo Novorizontino. In 2010, the Biasi family refounded the club with another CNPJ, but maintaining the same colors (black and yellow), mascot (Tigre), name and an almost identical shield.

Novorizontino: structure
The club has its own house. The Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi Stadium, affectionately called Jorjão, was inaugurated on March 22, 1987 in a match between Novorizontino and Internacional de Limeira. With capacity for 16 thousand fans, the stadium is named after the patriarch of the Biasi family, who financed the construction with his own resources.
The stadium is known for its impeccable pitch. In the 2025 Series B, Novorizontino had an excellent performance as home team, making the house a “cauldron”.

Furthermore, the club has invested heavily in modernizing its youth categories and maintaining an offensive style of play.
Novorizontino: who is the president?
A native of Alagoas and a native of Novorizon at heart, Genilson Rocha Santos has been the club’s president since 2012, when professional football resumed. At the age of 16, he arrived in Novo Horizonte to test at the former GE Novorizontino, then played for Vasco, Bragantino, Portugal, Japan and China.
Graduated in Physical Education, Genilson worked as a teacher before taking on the coordination of the youth teams in 2010. Two years later, he became president – a position he has held for 12 consecutive years.
The Biasi family eliminated the electoral process for the presidency. As Genilson is a man of absolute trust for the owners and there is no internal opposition, the club decided to remove the mandatory elections every two years. Genilson remains in the position indefinitely, unless the board decides for a change.
– One of the advantages is that there is no internal opposition and everyone is rowing on the same side – said the president.
