The American President violated diplomatic protocols by publicly revealing private messages from Emmanuel Macron and the Secretary General of NATO, and threatened France with punitive tariffs of 200% on wine and champagne if Paris rejects his proposal for a Peace Council.
Donald Trump’s relationship with his allies is deteriorating every day. The North American President revealed private messages from the Secretary General of NATO, but also from the French President, and threatened Emmanuel Macron with 200% tariffs on wine and champagne if Paris does not accept to join a diplomatic initiative from Washington.
Trump intends to assume the role of mediator and wants to create a Peace Council, an initiative that raises fears because it could replace the United Nations. Macron does not view the proposal favorably, and Trump has chosen to adopt a threatening stance.
The North American President no longer seems to have respect for Emmanuel Macron and has not even responded to an invitation sent by the French head of state.
Instead, he decided to reveal the private message that had been sent to him on social media. Later, Trump also released a private message from the NATO secretary general.
NATO allies were trying to please Donald Trump, who this Wednesday arrives at the Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a stage that Macron stepped on in the last few hours. The French President, who recently suffered a stroke in his eye, appeared wearing dark glasses, but with a clear vision of what he wants.
In France, it is already said that the Americans and the French are in the midst of a ‘cold war’.
