At a screening of the film “The Secret Agent”, on Tuesday night (20), the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, stated that the film’s reach in cinemas in Brazil and in international awards shows marks a moment of maturity in Brazilian audiovisual production.
“I think that Brazil is at a mature moment in Brazilian cinematographic production, and these openings and achievements signal this”, he declared.
Kleber Mendonça Filho’s film brought together ministers in Brasília’s historic cinema, Cine Brasília. In addition to Margareth, the session was attended by the ministers of Science, Technology and Information, Luciana Santos, and of Women, Márcia Lopes.
Also during the event, the Minister of Culture highlighted that strengthening the audiovisual sector depends on public investment.
“All of this that we see in American, French and Italian cinema happens because there is investment from the government and companies,” he stated.
According to Menezes, “to have a qualified cinema, you need good equipment and good working conditions”, and, for this, investment in the sector is so important.
