The person monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet, Paulo Melo de Freitas, 34 years old, was the victim of an attempted murder by gunfire on Tuesday night (20), while he was at home, on Ary Rodrigues Street, in the Aeroporto Velho neighborhood, in the Baixada da Sobral region, in Rio Branco.
According to information provided by witnesses, Paulo was inside his own apartment when an unidentified person went to the gate and called him by name. The suspect then pulled out a firearm and fired at least three shots.
Upon hearing the shots, the victim fell to the ground and tried to protect himself, rolling to avoid being hit. Even so, Paulo was shot in the right leg, suffering a fractured femur. To escape, he managed to run and hide inside the apartment. After the shots, the criminal returned to a motorcycle that was already waiting for him, the driver took off and the pair fled the scene.

The victim’s wife, who was also in the apartment, called the Military Police and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). A basic support ambulance was sent to provide first aid. After immobilization, Paulo was taken to the Rio Branco emergency room, where he was admitted in stable health.
Military police officers from the 1st Battalion were at the scene, collected information and carried out searches in the region, but no suspects were located.
The case will be investigated by the Civil Police’s Ready Employment Team (EPE) and must be forwarded to the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP).
