Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, determined that visits to the former presidential advisor, imprisoned in Paraná, will depend on express authorization from the court.
The directive was expressed in response to a request for information made to the STF by the Public Security Secretariat of the Ratinho Jr. government (PSD).
“The procedure for visiting the defendant must strictly comply with the internal rules of the prison unit in which he is held, especially those related to security, discipline and the routine of the establishment. I emphasize, however, that carrying out visits is subject to prior authorization from this Supreme Court”, stated the minister, in the letter, issued this Tuesday (20).
Moraes’ decision provoked complaints from Martins’ defense, accused of having accessed the LinkedIn portal, violating the conditions of his house arrest.
The former advisor, who denies improper access to the social network, was also convicted of the coup plot, but still has pending appeals.
According to the defense, the minister imposes a regime of restrictions by tightening the criteria for visits, which is “inhumane and abusive for any international human rights court”.
Another complaint is the fact that Moraes responded to the letter from the Paraná government secretariat, while ignoring five defense petitions requesting relaxation of prison terms.
“It’s been more than 15 days that Filipe has been in prison, even though it has been proven in the records that there was no access to LinkedIn”, says Jeffrey Chiquini, the former advisor’s lawyer.
Another lawyer, Ricardo Scheiffer, said that “the defense is completely ignored and Filipe, once again, remains in prison for something he didn’t do.”
He refers to the fact that the former advisor was arrested in 2024 for an alleged trip to the USA, despite the existence of evidence that it never took place.
