On Monday, January 19, the police intervened in the house of the chairwoman of the extra-parliamentary Pirate Party – Slovakia Zuzana Šubová. Šubová was detained by the police. The police told TASR that the Office for Combating Organized Crime (ÚBOK) is deals with the suspicion of committing the crime of dangerous stalking.
“In connection with the suspicion of committing the crime of dangerous stalking, the Office for the Fight against Organized Crime is conducting criminal proceedings based on a criminal report filed on November 10, 2023. In this matter, one person was detained today in the fourth district of Bratislava, who was immediately released after the necessary procedural steps were taken.,” they said from the communication department of the Presidium of the Police Force (PZ).
The chairman of the non-parliamentary party Democrats, which cooperates with Šubová, Jaroslav Naď declared that the detention is related to the case of the hacienda, which Šubová drew attention to. Democrats noted that in a week the president of the Pirates was supposed to travel to Brussels, where she was supposed to testify about the case.
Šubová denies that she would send anonymous messages to the president of the Financial Administration (FS) and the former head of the Agricultural Payment Agency (PPA) Jozef Kiss. According to Šubová, the only reason for the inspection was find out what documents he has in connection with the PPA activity and also the documents related to the criminal reports that she filed. She called it intimidation.
Šubová considers the police action to be a crossing of all red lines. The course of the intervention reminded her more of a demonstration of strength and humiliation of her person. “The only reason was to find out what Šubová has in various criminal proceedings. Because the conclusions that I want to present, as it was said, next week in Brussels, are really serious“, she declared at the press conference.
“What interested the investigator and the gentlemen around during those seven hours were the letters and documents regarding the PPA,” zoomed in. Šubová recalled that the police started dealing with the criminal complaint against Kiss for dangerous stalking as early as 2023, and she herself had already testified three times in this matter. She emphasized that she did not send any anonymous messages to Kiss, she does not know his family and does not even know where he lives.
According to her, the police should have informed her that there was no connection with her person. According to Šubová, the prosecutor of the district prosecutor’s office in Pezinok insisted that a criminal prosecution must be initiated in the matter. “And apparently, under mysterious circumstances, this criminal case was transferred to the Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (ÚBOK),” she declared.
The police force rejected the claims that question the legality and purpose of the performed procedural actions in the criminal matter in question. “The spread of unsubstantiated claims about the alleged silencing of persons or the abuse of police powers are misleading. When carrying out its activities, the police proceed impartially, lawfully and regardless of the possible political or public activity of the persons against whom the procedural acts are carried out“, the police emphasized.
They also pointed out that the dissemination of false or distorted information may negatively interfere with the ongoing investigation, threaten its objectivity, reduce public trust in law enforcement agencies and create disproportionate pressure on the investigators themselves.
The actress, singer and politician Dorota Nvotová reacted to the whole situation on the social network. who works in the Democrats. The intervention of the police in Šubová’s house caused very strong emotions in her. “It brought a tear to my eye. Who will it be next? Where are we going? According to her, the police intervention was not related to the writing of threatening letters. “They’re not that bad. They’re just that bad. They searched her house to find out what Zuzana and the Democrats know. What will be discussed at the European committee, where is Zuzana headed this week and where was she supposed to testify about the transactions on the PPA card,” Nvotová thinks.
The artist connected the whole situation with the recent abolition of the Office for the Protection of Whistleblowers. “Zuzana is the icing on the cake of their intimidation work. Now let’s all sh**, be quiet, turn a blind eye to everything that is happening here, especially that we are not threatened by unconstitutional genders and Ukrainians. Or? What happened to Zuzana today did not happen only to her. It has happened to all of us. There is no slur that can silence us“, she wrote on the social network.
With her followers, she also shared images of how the chairman of the Democrats Jaroslav Naď and the vice-chairman of the party Juraj Šeliga stood in front of Šubová’s house and, when she went out with the police, they expressed their loud support for her. “Zuzana, we’re here, okay?
