The new leader of the opposition in the Chamber, , defended the establishment of the CPMI (Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) and announced support for a new project to annul the sentences of those convicted for participating in the acts of .
The Bolsonaro right-wing intends to keep matters alive in the election year, in a strategy that involves putting pressure on the (Supreme Federal Court) in defense of the review of the coup plot convictions.
The parliamentarian emphasizes that his bench has a limited scope for action as it is a minority in the House, despite its good relationship with the center. Without a majority, the group believes that the establishment of the CPI has a better chance of prospering than the proposal to benefit those involved with the 8th of January.
The project to which Cabo Gilberto refers is being developed together with lawyers for prisoners following the attacks on the headquarters of the three Powers. The text aims to amend the Penal Code so that the crimes accused of those convicted are annulled, based on the thesis that they were committed out of strong emotion, under a kind of “herd effect”.

He says that the opposition will return from recess, pressing for the overthrow of the president (PT) of the Dosimetry PL, regarding the reduction of sentences for those convicted of the coup plot.
The opposition leader classifies overturning the veto as the “first mission” of the Bolsonarist bench in 2026 and claims to be in contact with party leaders in search of support. In parallel, he says that Bolsonaro supporters will continue to pressure the government to guarantee, at least, house arrest for other convicts.
Master’s CPMI
Another path of pressure, argues Gilberto Silva, is the creation of the CPMI and the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) into abuse of authority. Both target Supreme Court ministers.
“We need to reestablish the truth. The Supreme Court is making wrong decisions, billions were stolen by the Master. He was liquidated by , which has autonomy. We have to respect it, whether we agree or not.”

The parliamentarian also foresees clashes over the Anti-Faction Project. The text was changed in relation to that approved by the Chamber. Gilberto says that “the senators made a mistake” and defends “voting in favor of the text” of the deputies. The leader, however, indicates that the opposition’s position is not consolidated and that he will still listen to his colleagues.
Government agendas
The list of proposals that must be analyzed this year also includes other texts of interest to the Lula government. Among them, the MP (Provisional Measure) of , , zero fare and app drivers, such as Uber and 99. He did not rule out support for the agendas, but defends a thorough fiscal analysis of each project.
“We know that everything the government will do this year will have an electoral bias. We need to watch the economy, so the government doesn’t break public accounts. I, in the Northeast, am showing that Lula is deceiving the people. He doesn’t deliver what he promises,” he said.
Asked about the relationship between senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, Gilberto Silva stated that the episode “is part” of the process of consolidating candidacies, but that soon there will be no more differences. “Until the elections, we will all work together against Lula. I can post a video of whoever it is, but that doesn’t mean I’m supporting it.”
He says he likes Ratinho Júnior (PSD), governor of Paraná, and the governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), because both would have a good relationship with the police. “That’s not why I’m supporting it. My candidate is Senator Flávio.”
