Senator and opposition leader says he will join the team of Flávio, son of the former president, with the aim of strengthening the national project in this year’s elections
The senator, current leader of the Opposition in , announced this Wednesday (21) the withdrawal of his pre-candidacy for the government of . In a statement, the parliamentarian informed that the decision responds to a direct request from the former president for him to join the presidential campaign.
In the document, Marinho reports that he spent the year 2025 preparing for the state dispute, traveling through municipalities and talking to the population of Rio Grande do Norte. However, the national political scenario motivated the change of plans. The senator cites the situation of Bolsonaro, whom he describes as “unjustly imprisoned” and prevented from participating in the election, as a determining factor for realignment.
“In this difficult time, he [Jair Bolsonaro] He asks me to join the fight of his son, Flávio, so that together we can rescue the country”, wrote Marinho, who highlighted that his choice is guided by gratitude and loyalty to the former president.
