Senator Rogério Marinho, current leader of the Opposition in the Senate, announces the withdrawal of his pre-candidacy for the government of Rio Grande do Norte

The senator, current leader of the Opposition in , announced this Wednesday (21) the withdrawal of his pre-candidacy for the government of . In a statement, the parliamentarian informed that the decision responds to a direct request from the former president for him to join the presidential campaign.

In the document, Marinho reports that he spent the year 2025 preparing for the state dispute, traveling through municipalities and talking to the population of Rio Grande do Norte. However, the national political scenario motivated the change of plans. The senator cites the situation of Bolsonaro, whom he describes as “unjustly imprisoned” and prevented from participating in the election, as a determining factor for realignment.

“In this difficult time, he [Jair Bolsonaro] He asks me to join the fight of his son, Flávio, so that together we can rescue the country”, wrote Marinho, who highlighted that his choice is guided by gratitude and loyalty to the former president.

Rogério Marinho states that his focus becomes the national dispute to “defeat the PT”, which he classifies as a historical necessity. The note ends with the phrase “Flávio Bolsonaro president”. Furthermore, Marinho explains that, by contributing to the national scene, he will also be helping the future of his state.

Read the note:

The mission of a public man — especially that of a leader — is to point out paths and assume responsibilities. Throughout 2025, I prepared to face the
challenge of rescuing and returning Rio Grande do Norte to its people.

I traveled the state, visited municipalities, talked to the population and prepared myself to be a governor fully dedicated to serving the people of Rio Grande do Norte. Node
However, Rio Grande do Norte is not an island. Brazil is going through an absolutely exceptional moment.

The country’s greatest popular leader, who represents the conservative right and millions of Brazilians, is unjustly imprisoned and prevented from participating in the
decisive struggle to free Brazil from the clutches of misgovernment and the power project of the dark party.

Life gave me the opportunity to live and work in the government under the leadership of Jair Bolsonaro. I witnessed, up close, a man’s fight against the entire system: his courage, his authenticity and his love for Brazil. Bolsonaro did not give in, he did not compromise and he never gave up the values that inspire and make us proud.

At this difficult time, he asks me to join the fight of his son, Flávio, so that together we can rescue the country. Gratitude, solidarity and loyalty to
Jair Bolsonaro and what he represents define my decision.

I give up my candidacy and the dream of governing Rio Grande do Norte to join the struggle of millions of Brazilians who understand that
defeating the PT is a historic necessity to save Brazil.

When this task is accomplished, we will be contributing decisively not only to Brazil, but also to the future of our Rio Grande do Norte.

Democracy is freedom — for Brazil and for Brazilians!
Bolsonaro free!
Flávio Bolsonaro president!
