Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes that NATO is preparing for a war against his country. Lavrov could refer to some. “Russia is already intensifying its covert campaign against our societies. We must be prepared for the magnitude of a war like the one our grandparents or great-grandparents endured,” he said.
Rutte also insisted to NATO member countries that they must increase their defensive capabilities, both spending and production, to prevent Moscow from invading other European territories after Ukraine. “I fear that many are complacent and passive. Too many don’t feel the urgency. And too many believe that time is on our side. It’s not like that. The time to act is now,” he said.

And regarding Greenland, Russia claims that Denmark occupies it in a colonialist manner. “This is part of the problem linked to the legacy of the colonial era. From the 12th century Greenland was essentially a Norwegian colony, then during the 17th and early 20th centuries it was a Danish colony. Only in the middle of the 20th century was an agreement signed by which it became part of Denmark, not as a colony, but as an associated territory affiliated with the European Union,” Lavrov said.
