Studying aging through rare species: research has been going on for 30 years in the freezing waters of Antarctica

For the past thirty years, every day, British scientists have dived into the icy waters of Antarctica. They observe the slow growth of rare species of marine life. The objective of the mission is to better understand what happens during aging.

For three decades, British scientists have been diving daily in the freezing waters of Antarctica to study rare species of marine life and better understand aging processes.

The research, carried out next to the Rothera station in waters at -1 degree Celsius, makes it possible to assess the changes in an ecosystem that has already warmed by almost one degree since the start of the study.

The study reveals how small changes in temperature can completely transform the Antarctic marine environment.
