American president claims that no one did more for the military alliance than him, complains about “unfair” treatment of allies and says he should have won the Nobel Prize, controlled, according to him, by Norway
The American president, Donald Trump, said this Tuesday, 20, that no one has done more for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) than him, in addition to stating that the group does not treat the USA “fairly”, without mentioning the issue of Greenland.
“If I hadn’t arrived, there would be no NATO now. It would have remained on the ash heap of history”, he commented, in a press conference reviewing his first year in his second presidential term.
The republican also said again that he ended “eight wars”, and that is why he should have won the Nobel Peace Prize. “Norway controls the Nobel Prize and that is a joke”, he added. The prize, however, is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee, not the Norwegian government.
Still according to Trump, the United Nations never helped the US end any war and his administration managed to “rebuild the American military sector”. “The Peace Council can replace the United Nations”, argued the republican.
At the time, Trump also confirmed that he had invited Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to participate in the Peace Council, when questioned, without giving further details.
