Governors of the United States, in a panel presented by Richard Quest, from CNNcriticized President Donald Trump’s attempts to acquire Greenland, calling the idea “absurd” and “a little strange.”
“I am extremely concerned. In just one year, this president has transformed the United States from a leader of the free world into a playground bully,” said the governor of the state of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, on the panel this Wednesday (21).
“That’s absurd,” Beshear added. “This policy… is so harmful, so troubling — and that’s not who we are.”
The Republican said Trump had pressured Europe to “focus more on its defense” but described Greenland’s proposal as “a little strange.”
“I admit it’s strange, because we can already set up military bases in Greenland,” Stitt explained.
also expressed concern, warning that the consequences of the proposal would take “a long time to overcome”.
“We are in the first year of a four-year term and the damage done will have long-term consequences — for our competitiveness, for our international reputation and for trust among our allies,” she said.
On the margins of the CNN spoke briefly with Gretchen, who said she had “a lot of ideas” about Greenland, before adding: “What the hell?”
