United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (21) that the US was “stupid” to allow Denmark to keep Greenland as a territory, during his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
“Denmark fell to Germany after just six hours of fighting and was totally unable to defend itself, as was Greenland. So the United States was forced to intervene, and we did,” he said, lamenting the U.S. decision at the time to allow Denmark to keep Greenland as a territory.
“How stupid were we to do that?” he said. “But we did, but we gave it back. But how ungrateful are they now?”
