Despite being born in the capital of Acre, Manex moved to Europe as a child with his family. He started living in Etxauri, in the Navarra region, in the Basque Country, where he had his first contact with snow sports and began his sports training. It was outside Brazil that he built his career in cross-country skiing, one of the most traditional and demanding disciplines at the Winter Games.

Cross-country skiing is characterized by long-distance races, a high level of physical endurance and great technical demands, as athletes face different types of terrain and weather conditions. The sport requires intense preparation and regular participation in international competitions.

Manex Silva’s Olympic qualification was achieved in February last year, during the Ski Cross-Country World Cup, held in Trondheim, Norway. On that occasion, the athlete achieved the required index and secured the first Brazilian place for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games in men’s cross-country skiing.

This will be the second Olympic participation for the Acre native, who already represented Brazil at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Now, Manex returns to compete in the competition, once again taking the name of Acre and Brazil to the international winter sports scene.
