The celebration of Isabella Marie’s 15th birthday, on the 14th, was marked by emotion, faith and gratitude. The special date gained even more meaning after the public report made by her mother, Irlândia Costa, an Ifac employee in Sena Madureira, who recalled her daughter’s intense struggle from pregnancy to victory against a rare childhood cancer.
In a message shared on social media, Irlândia highlighted her daughter’s strength and determination, in addition to thanking God for the life and healing of Isabella, whom she affectionately calls “Bequinha” or “Bellinha”. According to her, the teenager is living proof that faith, combined with perseverance, was essential to get through one of the family’s most difficult periods.

The story of overcoming began during pregnancy, when Irlândia faced serious complications, including rupture of the placenta and loss of amniotic fluid. Against initial prognoses, Isabella remained strong until birth, demonstrating impressive resistance from an early age. Months later, signs of health emerged that defied medical diagnoses in Acre, leading the family on a long search for answers.
Confirmation came on the eve of Christmas 2011: Isabella, with just one year to live, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer in an advanced stage. The treatment took place at Boldrini Hospital, in Campinas (SP), a national reference in pediatric oncology. It took two years of intensive treatment, including surgeries, multiple chemotherapy sessions and strict monitoring, far from home and family routine.
Today, at 15 years old, Isabella symbolizes not only victory against the disease, but also hope for other families facing similar challenges. The young woman’s story has moved residents of Sena Madureira and the region, reinforcing messages of faith, resilience and unconditional love.
Coming from a traditional family in the municipality, Irlândia Costa continues to be recognized not only for her professional performance, but also for sharing a testimony that inspires and strengthens the entire community.
