Most Brazilians believe that Brazil could face a major corruption case in the next six months. According to the AtlasIntel/Bloomberg survey released this Thursday (22), 69% of respondents consider this possibility, while 64.9% consider corruption to be the biggest problem in the country.
The topic leads the population’s perception and is followed by the increase in attacks related to disputes between criminal factions (53%) and the increase in theft and assault, seen as very likely by 56%.
Drug trafficking also appears as the second biggest problem faced by the country (49.9%), a decline of 11 percentage points compared to the December 2025 survey, when the issue was considered the worst by 61% of Brazilians
Opportunity with security!
The retreat comes after an increase in actions by the Federal Police in partnership with state police to suppress criminal organizations and prevent the flow of trafficking. The topic is seen as a priority for the government this year and should be central to electoral debates.
Following this, Brazilians assess that political polarization is still the third biggest problem in the country, with 25.2% of mentions. The survey shows a slight increase in rejection of the topic compared to the previous survey, rising seven percentage points in an election year.
The AtlasIntel survey, in partnership with Bloomberg, interviewed 5,418 people between January 15th and 20th. The margin of error is plus or minus one percentage point.
