The Secretary of Public Security of Piauí, will head the National Public Security Secretariat, linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. THE Young Panthe native of Piauí said on Wednesday (21) that he will take up the position as soon as he completes the transition in the government of his state.
A Young Pan found out that on Tuesday (20), for a meeting with the new minister of the portfolio, but the invitation had not been formalized at the time.
Chico Lucas’ name reached the president (PT) through the Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger, who is also from Piauí. According to Planalto sources, Lula approved the nomination.
Chico Lucas celebrated the choice of his name for the position. In a post on Instagram, the secretary said that he accepted Wellington César’s invitation “with a sense of duty and a spirit of cooperation”. He also thanked Lula and the minister for their “trust”.
“I extend my thanks to the secretaries who are members of the National Council of Public Security Secretaries, committing myself to further strengthening federative cooperation, to Governor Rafael Fonteles, for the support that made possible the advances achieved in Piauí and to the people of Piauí for their generosity in believing in the work carried out collectively by the Security Forces”, wrote Chico Lucas.
Through a publication on social media, the governor of Piauí, (PT), celebrated the choice of Chico Lucas as national secretary. The head of the Piauí Executive highlighted the results recorded in the state in terms of public safety.
“The state of Piauí has achieved significant results in reducing violence in relation to all types of crimes, with emphasis on a [queda de cerca de] 30% in homicides and [mais de] 50% in cell phone thefts, this is due to our government’s priority for public security and the competence and dedication of our secretary Chico Lucas”, wrote Fonteles.
Chico Lucas gained national recognition through the Council of Public Security Secretaries (Consep) as nominated for the position of Minister of Public Security, Lula’s campaign promise. With the departure of command of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the group interpreted that the moment was “opportune and strategic” to split the department into two.
