Canada created a model for an invasion of the United States, the country’s main partner
The Canadian Armed Forces are studying the possibility of responding to a hypothetical US invasion of its territory, l, citing two government sources.
The publication states that this is the first time in a century that Canada has created a model for an invasion of the USA, the country’s main partner.
The sources state that the model of an American invasion from the south has been tested, which expects that American forces will be able to take the country’s strategic points, whether at sea or on land, within a week or even in two days.
Faced with this scenario of US superiority, the Canadian Armed Forces foresee a scenario in which resistance groups, including those made up of armed citizens, would resort to “ambushes, sabotage, drone warfare or rapid attack tactics”, similar to those of the mujahideen against the Soviet Union, between 1979 and 1989, and those of the Taliban against the US and allies, over 20 years.
Still, one of the sources said that relations with the USA are still good and that the two countries are working together on the “Golden Dome”, an American defense project to protect the country from Russian and Chinese missile attacks.
Retired Major General David Fraser, who led Canadian troops in Afghanistan, told the newspaper that, in the case of this “unthinkable” scenario, Canada would have support from other countries.
“You know that if you attack Canada, you will have the whole world against you, even more than Greenland. People care about what happens to Canada, unlike Venezuela. It would be possible to see German ships and British planes in Canada to reinforce the country’s sovereignty”, he said, acknowledging that it is not possible for Canada to defeat the USA on the battlefield.
Fraser recognized that tactics similar to those used in Afghanistan would be the most effective way to combat American dominance. “There’s a huge difference between defending another territory, like the Canadians did in Afghanistan, and defending Windsor, Ontario. You don’t cross that border because then everyone is an enemy.”
