Minister Gleisi Hoffmann, of Institutional Relations, confirmed this Wednesday, in a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and PT President Edinho Silva, that she will leave the government to run for the Senate in Paraná.
Responsible for the political articulation of the Lula government, Gleisi was previously a senator (between 2011 and 2019). She is currently a licensed deputy and is in her second term in the Chamber. In addition to her, the PT will introduce former federal deputy and current director-general of Itaipu Binacional, Ênio Verri, to the Senate.
The minister confirmed her pre-candidacy in a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which she appears alongside Lula, Edinho and Verri. According to her advisors, she must remain in her role as minister until the deadline to disqualify herself from the role in time to participate in the election, in April.
Opportunity with security!
In recent electoral polls on the dispute for the Senate in her state, Glsisi appears behind the current governor, Ratinho Jr. (PSD), and numerically tied with the ultraconservative presenter Cristina Graeml (União), the former deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Novo) and the Bolsonarist deputy Filipe Barros (PL).
