The rules for obtaining a driving license (category B, over 18 years old) will change. The Government will take the changes that create a alternative and optional regime which allows you to learn to drive with a tutor instead of a professional driving school instructor. The traditional model remains an option.
With the new rules set out in the diploma — which apparently will not have to go through Parliament — The tutor course is no longer mandatory (until then, the regime already admits tutors, but with conditions that are now reduced: a minimum of 12 hours of practical training by the student and 250 kilometers of road, and the obligation of the tutor to attend a specific course).
However, all the requirements to be a tutor are not yet known. In fact, some ‘brakes’ to the new program are already known: a geographic limitation for accompanied driving, to be defined by the municipalities, which may be reflected in different circulation maps depending on the municipality. AND own insurance will be mandatory covering any damage caused by the candidate during supervised driving.
The decision on whether to take the exam will continue to depend on driving schools, which will have to carry out a “benchmark test” to assess whether the student is ready to take the exam.
To access the scheme, the candidate must communicate with the driving school by email, identifying the chosen tutor and attaching a statement ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
