Inmet issues alerts for rain in Brazil; find out about affected states

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Thursday, 22nd, rain warnings for several regions of the country, with areas in yellow and orange, indicating different levels of risk with precipitation. Of the five regions, only the Southern States are outside the alerts, which are valid until next Saturday, the 24th.

The yellow alert, which indicates potential risk, includes areas in the following locations:

The recommendation is that the population redoubles attention to flooding, landslides and river overflows. Predicted rainfall varies from 20 to 30 mm per hour or up to 50 mm per day.

The orange alert, which represents a higher risk and possibility of damage, affects regions in the following locations:

In this situation, there is a risk of flooding, landslides and river overflows, with expected rainfall of 30 to 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day.

According to information from Climatempo, cities in Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro recorded the highest volumes of rain in the country in recent days, with accumulations of between 100 mm and just over 200 mm in several points.

In accordance with the alerts issued by Inmet, the forecast indicates continued rain until the end of the week, due to the second event of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone (ZCAS) of 2026, which remains active over the Southeast region until Saturday, 24.
