The director had the impeachment process approved by the council last Friday
Julio Casares, president of São Paulo Futebol Clube, resigned from his position this Wednesday afternoon (21). The decision was announced on his Instagram account. According to the director, the club is going through an “intense instability environment” marked by “distorted narratives”.
and argued that the resignation is not a confession. Vice-president Harry Massis Júnior will take office until the end of the year, when there will be new elections.
The leader stated that the departure aims to preserve his health and protect his family from attacks. Despite the removal, the General Assembly still needed to confirm the process.
He also said that the club’s environment is one of “conspiracies, distortions, lies and power struggles that go beyond democratic limits.”

The impeachment request was filed after the São Paulo Public Ministry (MPSP) requested, on December 18, the opening of a police inquiry into the investigation related to the illegal exploitation of a box at Morumbi, a tricolor stadium located in the West Zone of São Paulo. The body investigates whether crimes of coercion were committed during the process and private corruption in sport.
