“The future of the island is up to the population to decide and that is why we defend sovereignty,” he said

The head of foreign policy of the European Union (EU), Kaja Kallas, said this Thursday (22), that she has not yet had access to the ongoing agreement between the United States and European countries on Greenland.

“We haven’t seen the agreement yet, we can only speculate what is with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, which is the security of the Arctic. This has been offered before and if the US has concerns in the region these problems can be resolved via NATO,” Kallas told Bloomberg.

The diplomat also reaffirmed the island’s sovereignty in the Arctic, reaffirming that it is not up to the United States to intervene in the region. “Greenland and its population have already stated that they want to stay in the European Union, with Denmark. The future of the island is up to the population to decide and that is why we defend territorial sovereignty”, he added.

is still in progress and gave few details about the draft agreement, but added that it involves Greenland’s participation in the “Golden Dome” anti-missile shield.
