a party led by the mayor of Recife, has employed since 2023 a former secretary of the government of Pernambuco who is accused by the Federal Public Ministry of passive corruption and who was .

Renato Thiebaut was secretary of Strategic Projects for Pernambuco during the administration (at the time, at the PSB). He was the target of Operation Articulata, an unfolding of investigations launched in June 2020 that uncovered a million-dollar scheme for directing tenders in the emergency purchase of medical materials for use in combating the pandemic.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses Thiebaut of participating in the collection of bribes between 2017 and 2020 linked to contracts with Compesa (Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento) and the State Health and Education departments.

From January to September 2025, Thiebaut received R$149,093.37 in salaries, according to the PSB’s accounts at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court). In 2024, the value was R$182,297.97, while in the previous year, the first for which data appears, it was R$182,447.48.

The criminal action against Thiebaut is taking place in the TRF-5 (Federal Regional Court of the 5th Region), under the report of judge Roberto Machado, after a change of understanding by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) regarding the privileged forum.

When contacted, the PSB stated that “Renato Thiebaut has worked for the party for three years and does not have any civil or criminal conviction that would discredit his performance.”
