The first incident occurred around 1:40 am, in front of the abandoned building of the former Banco da Amazônia. Taking advantage of the low lighting in the area, the duo acted calmly to remove the wires, even with vehicles circulating on the road. To commit the theft, the suspects used a wrench to loosen the screws on the structure.
The following night, around 11:30 pm on the 20th, a new attempt was recorded at the same point. The images show the two men starting the action, which ended up being interrupted after the arrival of a motorcyclist. After a brief conversation, the suspects ran away.
According to reports from residents, traders and representatives of the municipal government, this type of crime has been frequent and caused damage to the community. The situation has also generated a feeling of insecurity among residents of the region.
According to the complaints, police forces face difficulties in containing the practice, since, even when identified, suspects end up returning to the streets, which contributes to the repetition of thefts.
Security circuit images should assist in investigations.
