New feature in the mObywatel application. Thanks to it, you can handle important matters related to your ID card
The mObywatel application is a great convenience for all Poles. Thanks to it, you have all the necessary documents on your phone and you don’t have to physically carry them with you. It is therefore not surprising that, according to government data, the mObywatel application is already owned by over 10 million Poles, and this number is constantly growing. Many people believe that it is the best prepared and managed application of digital projects in Poland.
I am constantly working on and in the mObywatel application. New functionalities are regularly released that have a real impact on users’ lives. Now a new function has been introduced that will allow for quick management of e-IDs. People who have an e-ID, i.e. an identity document issued after March 4, 2019, can manage their ID via the mObywatel application. Until now, these orders had to be completed in person at the office. Now just enter the applications and select the appropriate option. What can be changed in the e-ID card via phone?
- check what certificates are in the e-ID and what their status is,
- change and unlock the PIN for your personal profile, which is used to confirm your identity on the Internet,
- change and unlock your personal signature PIN, which is used to sign electronic documents.
In the application you will also find all the necessary information that will allow you to check whether your ID document meets the requirements of the new functionality. To manage your document, turn on the application and search for mID options and press “ID card data”. In the next step, select “Settings for the electronic layer of the ID” and that’s it.
What is e-ID?
It is a new generation document with a special . Each ID card issued after March 4, 20219 is an e-ID. It has a built-in external chip that allows you to use a contactless ID – just like a payment card.
What can you do via the mObywatel application?
The application allows quick access to documents and public services without having to carry them in paper or plastic form. Thanks to it, many official matters, daily inspections and formalities can be handled conveniently via smartphone, without queues and without leaving home.
Using mObywatel, the user can, among others:
- confirm your identity at an office, bank, post office or during an inspection,
- show documents to the police and other services (e.g. during a road check),
- check your personal data from state registers (PESEL, ID card),
- check penalty points and driving license data,
- use e-prescriptions, e-referrals and e-sick leaves (integration with the Online Patient Account),
- confirm eligibility for health services,
- use the Large Family Card in electronic version,
- show your student ID (if the school or university supports this function),
- check vehicle data and information about compulsory third party liability insurance,
- receive messages and notifications from public administration.
What documents does mObywatel replace?
The mObywatel application may replace – in certain situations – the following documents:
- ID card (mID) – in Poland, in contacts with offices and services,
- driving license – during a road check in the country,
- vehicle registration certificate and confirmation of valid third party liability insurance,
- Large Family Card,
- student or student ID card,
- certificates and health certificates available through IKP.
It is worth remembering that mObywatel does not replace documents when traveling abroad – a physical ID card or passport is still required when crossing the border.
