Family members and victims of major tragedies in the country will meet this Friday (23) in Brumadinho (MG) to formalize the creation of joint action.
The initiative is formed by the families of the victims of , which turns seven years old next Sunday (25), and those affected by a rock salt mine in Maceió.
The cases involve the mining company and the petrochemical company, respectively.
Representatives of the victims of (2015), the fire in (2013) and the (2019) training center must also be present.
In a letter that will be read at Memorial Brumadinho, the movement’s leaders call for those responsible to be held accountable and state that the delay in justice represents a new form of violence against those affected.
“The families ask for recognition. They ask that their dead are not statistics, nor numbers in endless legal proceedings. They ask for something elementary: that the right to life always be above economic interests”, says an excerpt from the document.
The objective of the front created is to strengthen the joint action of representatives to guarantee the rights of victims. It also involves articulation with national and international bodies, such as the (Organization of American States).
The State is responsible for monitoring commercial activities to prevent new tragedies.
