The Municipality of Albufeira promotes a new edition of the “Cãominhada Municipal”, reinforcing the commitment to “solidarity and animal welfare”, an initiative aimed at the entire population that consists of a walk accompanied by pets.
The objective is to “promote healthy lifestyles, health and well-being, encourage volunteering and social assistance, as well as raise awareness about the protection of abandoned animals”.
The first session of 2026 is scheduled for “next Saturday, January 24th, at 10:30 am, at the Albufeira Animal Welfare Center”. The initiative includes “a 2 to 4 kilometer route through the city streets”, combining physical exercise, socializing and raising awareness for the animal cause.
Registration open and free participation
Participation is free, “with or without a dog”, with “one animal per family or group of people” allowed. The municipality also states that “volunteers are accepted to walk the dogs at the Albufeira Collection Center”.
Interested parties can register now, with the presence of at least one individual over 18 years old per group, responsible for the animals, being mandatory.
On the day of the event, “donations will also be collected for the Center’s animals, such as food and accessories”.
The Municipality recalls that this initiative corresponds to “the first of 10 sessions that will take place throughout the year, monthly, with the exception of the months of July and August”.
