Engineer is kidnapped and extorted after arranging a meeting online

An engineer was held captive for around two days after falling for a scam carried out through a social network, in Cidade Tiradentes, in the east zone of São Paulo. Three men were arrested by the Civil Police on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

According to investigations, the case began on Sunday (18), when the victim went to an agreed address after talking to someone online. Upon arriving at the scene, the engineer was surprised by armed criminals and surrendered.

He was then placed in the back seat of his own car and taken to a property within a community in the region. According to police, the man remained imprisoned in two different locations used as captivity during the period in which he was in the suspects’ possession.

According to the victim’s report, during the time she was kidnapped, she was coerced into carrying out bank transactions. The release only took place on Tuesday morning (20).

After the complaint, the Civil Police began investigations and managed to identify the properties used in the crime. Three suspects, aged 19, 20 and 25, were located, arrested and recognized by the victim.

During the action, the police seized a weapon that had been used to threaten the engineer. Two of the detainees were already wanted by the courts and had outstanding arrest warrants.
