Muricy Ramalho is no longer part of São Paulo’s football structure. This Friday, the tricolor idol made his departure from the club official after resigning from his position as football coordinator, a role he had held since January 2021, at the beginning of Julio Casares’ management.

Why did Muricy resign?
Former coach and historical figure of São Paulo, Muricy had been away from the CT’s daily routine for health reasons. He recently underwent knee surgery and will still need to undergo a new procedure. Given this scenario, he chose not to request a temporary license and decided to end his time at the club once and for all.
Muricy’s career in São Paulo is marked by achievements and identification. First as a player and, mainly, as a coach, he made history by leading the team to the third consecutive Brazilian championship, between 2006 and 2008, a period considered one of the most successful in the club’s recent era.

Will Rafinha be coordinator of São Paulo?
With Muricy’s departure, the board is already evaluating possible names to fill the gap in the football department. One of the most highly rated is former right-back Rafinha, who retired from the field in July 2025. The information is from ‘GE’. So far, the player has not confirmed his move to Tricolor.
Champion of the Brazilian Cup in 2023 and the Super Cup in 2024 for São Paulo, Rafinha played for the club between 2022 and 2024, making 117 appearances and consolidating his name in the recent history of Tricolor.
