Lucas Paquetá’s return to Flamengo faces obstacles. Rubro-Negro sent an official proposal to West Ham this Thursday (22/1), but the values did not please the English club. They will inform the refusal in the terms sent by the red-black club.
Lucas Paquetá at Flamengo: what is the price asked by West Ham?
According to “ge.globo”, the English club signaled last week that it expects to receive at least 45 million euros (R$280.3 million). The Rio club’s proposal reached 40 million euros (R$249 million), part of which was fixed and the other in bonuses.
Before that, West Ham wanted something in the region of 57 million euros (R$355 million). According to ESPN, West Ham agreed to reduce their request for the midfielder after the club’s shareholders’ meeting, but want five million more than what was offered by Flamengo.
Flamengo has a verbal agreement with Paquetá to sign a four-year contract. The team does not plan to offer more than 40 million euros, but admits to changing the terms of the proposal to try to convince West Ham. Another point of debate is that the English team wants to have the player until the end of the 25/26 season.
The possible sale of Lucas Paquetá could also be advantageous for West Ham from a financial point of view. The club closely monitors the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which limit losses to up to £105 million over a three-season cycle. The teams needed to deliver their audited accounts to the league by the end of December, and are still awaiting final opinions.
Paquetá’s last game was on January 6, in a defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Paquetá is a child of Flamengo, and has been at West Ham since 2022. Before defending the colors of the English team, the Brazilian played for Milan and Lyon. At the time, the English club paid 61.63 million euros (R$309 million at the price for the period) to take him out of France.
