Syrian army takes over al-Aktan prison where IS fighters are being held


Damascus – The Syrian interim government has taken over another prison housing suspected Islamic State (IS) terrorists from the Kurdish-dominated militia SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces). This was announced by the Syrian Interior Ministry, the state news agency SANA reported on Friday. The al-Aktan prison near the former IS stronghold of al-Raqqa in northeastern Syria is considered one of the largest detention centers for former IS fighters with around 1,500 prisoners.
