There will be a meeting between Russia, Ukraine and the USA. There is only one point left to resolve – it remains to be said which one

Zelenskyy’s announcement confirmed by Kremlin. “I hope the UAE knows; sometimes we get surprises from the US…”

There will be a meeting trilateral entre Russia, Ukraine and USAstarting today, Friday, with a view to peace in Ukraine.

The meeting will be in the United Arab Emirates, announced the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “It will be the first trilateral meeting in the Emirates. I hope the UAE is aware. Sometimes we get surprises from the USA…”, commented Zelenskyy, between smiles.

However, the Kremlin already confirmed this meeting: “It was agreed that, from today, the first meeting of a trilateral working group responsible for security issues will take place in Abu Dhabi”, declared the Kremlin’s diplomatic advisor, Iouri Uchakov.

The Ukrainian president said, on the other hand, that he still there is no agreement on the territories claimed by Moscow in eastern Ukraine.

“Os Russians have to be prepared to commitments”, the Ukrainian leader told journalists on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, after a meeting with his North American counterpart Donald Trump.

Ukraine and the United States came to agreement on security guarantees to the Kiev authorities after a possible cessation of hostilities with Russia, the leader of the Ukrainian Government commented: “Security guarantees are ready”.

According to Zelenskyy, “the document needs to be signed by the parties, by the presidents, and then it will be sent to national parliaments”.

“Everything revolves around the eastern part of our country. Everything revolves around the territories. This is the problem that we have not yet resolved”, he told journalists.

Tough on Europe

Earlier, in his speech at the World Economic Forum, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was particularly stand with the lack of response from the Europa in the defense of the continent.

“Everyone remembers the great American film “Groundhog Day”, but no one would like to live like that. Repeating the same thing for weeks, months and, of course, years. And yet, that’s exactly how we live now”, he warned.

To the President of Ukraine, and talking about the Greenland, to send “14 or 40 soldiers” to the island, “what is this for? What message does this send? What is the message for Putin, for China? And, most importantly, what message does it send to Denmark, your close ally? 40 soldiers won’t protect anything.”

“Nothing has changed” in the last year: “Everyone has focused on Greenland and it is clear that most leaders do not know what to do about this issue. And It seems like everyone is waiting for the United States to calm down. But what if they don’t calm down? And then?”

For Zelenskyy, Europe “still feels more like geography, history, tradition, and not like a great political power” and “remains a fragmented kaleidoscope of small and medium powers”.

“A Europe seems lost when trying to convince the US president to change. But he won’t change. The president Trump loves who he is. And he says he loves Europe, but he won’t listen to this Europe“, he warned.

The US special envoy for the resolution of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, stated that there is only one issue left to be resolved between the parties, with “significant progress” being made.

“I believe that just one question left to be resolved. We discussed several versions of this issue, which means it can be resolved. Therefore, if both sides want to resolve it, we will resolve it”, he said, at an event on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

No entanto, Steve Witkoff did not reveal which is this single point of contention.
