Trump attacks NATO, Powell and California governor in posts on Truth Social

President Donald Trump suggested, on Thursday night, the 22nd, that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) be invoked to help protect the American border with Mexico, with the aim of stopping “invasions by illegal immigrants”. Support from the military alliance, according to him, would free border agents for other tasks.

The statement was published on the Truth Social network, amid other publications attacking the president of the Federal Reserve (Fed), Jerome Powell, and the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.

In the post about Powell, the American president said that mortgage rates fell to the lowest level in three years in the United States, despite the Fed president, whom he once again called “Lately Late Jerome Powell” for keeping interest rates high. “It just shows that he was wrong all along, because the market is overcoming his stubbornness,” Trump said.

Regarding Newson, the American president said that the Democratic governor of California should not have gone to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, as he “became a joke” at the event. Trump said Newsom should have focused on helping those affected by the California wildfires.

The governor is tipped to run for president in 2028, but Trump said it was “unimaginable” to see him run for the White House because he led California “to ruin”.
