A man died this Saturday after being shot by a United States federal police agent in Minneapolis, as confirmed by the police chief of this city, Brian O’Hara, in statements to the Minnesota Star Tribune. She is the second person to die from police shootings in the Minnesota capital in three weeks: on January 7, a 37-year-old woman, Renee Good, was shot to death by another officer after participating in protests against immigration raids ordered by the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
“We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal agents in the area of West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. We are working to confirm more details. We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the area,” the Minneapolis City Council reported on the X social network. The Police Chief confirmed the death shortly after.
The governor of Minnesota, Democrat Tim Walz, has also reported the event through his social networks. “I just spoke with the White House after another horrible shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota is fed up,” he wrote. Walz, who has been highly critical of the immigration raids, added: “This is disgusting. The president must end this operation. Get the thousands of violent and untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now!”
