Damares says he will help Flávio Bolsonaro with evangelicals – 01/23/2026 – Politics

The senator and former Minister of Women (-DF) says she will “embark” on the senator’s (PL) campaign for the Presidency and help him in any way possible, whether female or female.

Despite his closeness to the Bolsonaro family, especially with former first lady Michelle, Damares is one of the main members of the Republicans, the party of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas.

“From now on, I will embark on the campaign and I want to help in the construction of the government program”, says the senator to Sheet.

Damares’ emphatic support comes at a time when Flávio’s allies are calling for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to leave the way clear for Tarcísio to also position himself as a candidate for President.

This Friday (23), for the third time in two weeks, he does not want to run for president in Flávio’s place. The governor would have his first conversation with Bolsonaro since Flávio’s announcement on Thursday (22), but for next week.

Damares says he wants to help Flávio with the electorate. The senator has emerged in recent days by claiming to have evidence of participation by evangelical churches in the scandal of undue discounts from the INSS (National Social Security Institute).

Unlike Damares, Malafaia stated in an interview with SBT News that Flávio’s candidacy “did not excite the right”.

Bolsonaro’s eldest son plans to intensify appearances at evangelical events, a flank that his imprisoned father treats as a decisive electoral asset — it represents 27% of the Brazilian population.

Damares says he also wants to help Flávio put together his government plan with a proposal to combat feminicide — a crime that involves at least four murders per day, according to the Ministry of Justice.

“Let’s start working. I want to help Flávio comply with all state human rights guidelines. I want to sit down with his team and also help guarantee children’s rights and provide assistance to indigenous peoples.”

With Bolsonaro’s insistence on Flávio’s name, members of the Republicans claim that the party tends to free state directories to support whichever candidate they want. The Republicans are part of the Lula (PT) government through Ports and Airports.

Flávio’s name is also considered problematic for the party’s candidates in the Northeast region, including Paraíba — a state where the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans), is trying to get his father, Nabor Wanderley (Republicans), to .

In December, when Flávio announced that he had been chosen by his father, Damares released a video in which he said he had a leader and followed his guidance.

“I have a leader. And my leader is Jair Messias Bolsonaro. It will be exactly as Jair Messias Bolsonaro wishes and decides. Flávio, may God bless you. Friend, now the decision is also yours. And I’ll tell you: you can count on me”, said the senator, at the time.
