O Vasco opened negotiations to try to sign the striker Deyverson34 years old, who is free on the market after terminating his contract with Fortaleza. The Cruz-Maltina board treats the possible agreement as a market opportunity, as the player has no ties to another club. The information was initially published by the “BTB Sports” page.
Even with conversations underway, with a chance of reaching an agreement soon, the possible arrival of the center forward would not prevent Vasco from looking for other names for the position, since the planning foresees more than one alternative for the offensive sector. Recently, the name of Cláudio Spinelli, from Independiente del Valle, appeared on the radar, offered by businessmen.
At Fortaleza, Deyverson received a salary at the R$900 thousand per month.
Deyverson’s numbers at Fortaleza
Deyverson arrived at Fortaleza in March 2025, signed from Atlético-MG for around R$7 million, with a contract valid until the end of 2026. During the season, the striker played 37 matchesadding the Brazilian Championship and Copa Libertadores, with 9 goals scored and one assist. Despite finding the net in important moments, his career was marked by ups and downs.
The player was removed from the squad at a certain period, training separately, but ended up being reinstated later. Episodes of indiscipline, such as confusion on the field and controversial moves, also marked his career at the Ceará club, which ended up relegated to Series B. With the fall, Deyverson’s stay became unfeasible, leading to his termination by mutual agreement.
Is Deyverson a Vasco fan?
Deyverson is a declared Vasco fan and never hid his emotional connection with the club. Born in Rio de Janeiro, the striker inherited his passion for Vasco from his father, Carlos Roberto da Silva. Throughout his career, he gave several interviews stating that he dreamed of wearing the Cruz Maltina shirt. In 2020, for example, he publicly revealed his desire to play for the club and even moved the fans by following Vasco on social media and publishing cryptic messages when he returned from Europe.
On other occasions, Deyverson said that he asked his businessman to look for Vasco when he played for Belenenses, in Portugal, but that the club showed no interest at that time. Even so, he continued to declare his affection for the team, as in 2023, after a Brazilian Championship match, when he was defending Cuiabá. Despite always reinforcing his professionalism and dedication to the clubs he defended, the striker reiterated several times that Vasco is his favorite team and that he has the desire to, one day, defend the São Januário club.
