This Saturday (22), the Palácio do Planalto placed protective bars around the government headquarters as a measure to guarantee security during the government commanded by the federal deputy (PL-MG).
The parliamentarian organized a march of around 240 km against the sentences of those convicted in 2023. The episode was marked by the destruction of the headquarters of the three Powers, in Brasília.
The fences are usually placed during demonstrations or street events held on the Esplanade or in the square.
In a statement, the GSI (Institutional Security Office) stated that the bars are being used as a reinforcement measure due to the possibility of demonstrations planned in locations close to the presidential installation.
The Palácio do Planalto, headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, used to be surrounded ten years ago, until President Lula (PT) removed the barrier in May 2023. Since then, the fences have been replaced on specific occasions, when there is a need to reinforce the protection of the headquarters.
Among recent examples is that of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), when protests were expected against the decision of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
The parliamentarian left on Monday (19) from Paracatu, in Minas Gerais, and will head to Brasília, where he intends to arrive on Sunday (25) Participants in the walk spoke of 400 supporters.
